The Steel Staircase Company - Architectural Staircase Design & Manufacture - Est. 1992
The Steel Staircase Company is a small company run solely by Matt Belfield who believes that for his customers to achieve their goals their needs are paramount.  Dealing with one person from beginning to end will eliminate most of the problems associated with larger steel fabrication companies where communication breakdown can cause a frustrating of your plans and ideas.

Matt Belfield is committed to meeting your needs and will discuss these in detail to fully interpret what you require and take time on-site to get a feel for the whole project taking accurate dimensions and then producing fully detailed CAD fabrication drawings to your satisfaction. As a result you will achieve what you desire rather than what someone else thinks you need!

We can also supply other fabricated steelwork to assist in other areas of your project such as structural steelwork, contemporary gates, railings and balconies.

We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you an architectural steel staircase of your highest expectations.  Please take time to browse some pictures of a recent project below:

The project is a Feature Architectural Staircase provided for Ledger Bennett Plc's reception area at their new offices in Milton Keynes.

The brief was to ensure that all the finished surfaces were free of any pits or grooves found in mild steel. All sections were meticulously ground and polished to a very high finish before being grit blasted clean and wet sprayed with a silver two pack paint to match all other features such as door frames and architraves.

The treads are American Black Walnut with a small anti-slip rubber disc machined and inserted into the nose of the tread and then finished with a very hard wearing lacquer.

Stainless Steel Tension wires were used to achieve a very high tech contemporary look to really compliment the staircase and it's surroundings.

Due to the length of the tension wires turnbuckles are provided at both ends to gain the required tension.

Satin finish Stainless Steel posts with lugs neatly TIG welded on to take the tension wires.

All posts and balustrade are acid cleaned and brush polished to achieve a very high class finish.

All the welds around the fixing brackets on the main stair carriage are ground smooth to provide that one piece moulded look.

Note the clean and smooth surface finish of the box section.  The client stated that he wanted a finish as good as the staircase at the garage he bought his Porsche from. The result?  He stated: 'I now feel it's far better than the one at the Porsche garage!'

Mission accomplished!
